Mizuno ST-X 220 Golf Hybrid
Mizuno’s ST-X 220 Golf Hybrid Wood is an all purpose hybrid that has been designed to fit all types of golfers and their playing style.
Created to generate a high launch with minimal effort, the design offers both speed and power for golfers who are looking for a club to add to their long game.
Using Mizuno’s X-Axis design allows for an internal weight to be inserted deep inside the head of the driver to encourage a high draw bias flight. With this deep internal weighting this hybrid is suitable for golfers who play with moderate swing speeds who need elevated launch to reach their desired distance and landing angles.
The carbon crown which is used on the ST-X 220 hybrid is an ultra thin, lightweight waffle crown which helps to create a lower centre of gravity and generate an even higher launch.
Being able to say that you have a club that uses a face that produces “the highest recorded ball speeds from centre strikes” is an incredible line to use on the golf course, but it is 100% true. The MAS1C face measures at a staggering 1.8mm, Mizuno’s thinnest hybrid face to date, allowing for incredible ball speed to be generated and boost golfers strokes for added distance.
Mizuno has also used their ‘Harmonic Impact Research’, which has been used before on several of their leading clubs, to identify and isolate vibration patterns that are created when striking a golf ball. These patterns create the sort of sound that many elite players associate with a preferred ‘solid’ feel.
Like the Drivers and Fairway Woods in the ST-X 220 series the Hybrid features Wave Technology in the sole, however it comes with some alterations. The Wave sole has been re-engineered and optimised for use in a hybrid club to create increased ball speeds for shots that strike low on the face of the club. This design choice works perfectly for shots that are played directly from the turf.
