The 152nd Open Champion secured his second major title using a pair of Titleist Vokey Design wedges, marking the fifth win in the last six major championships for Vokey wedge users. He sealed his victory at Royal Troon's par-5 16th hole, using his new Vokey Design SM10 60.04T lob wedge to pitch over a greenside bunker, setting up a 4-foot putt for birdie to finish at 9 under par.
The champion, who also carried a new Vokey SM10 56.10S sand wedge, gained nearly three shots on the field around the greens (+2.866, 15th), with half of them coming on Sunday (+1.437). At the PGA Championship, he used his Vokey WedgeWorks 60-degree Low Bounce K lob wedge to secure the win on the 72nd hole. He usually plays his 60.06K, switching to the 60.04T on firmer courses like Royal Troon.
Last week in Scotland, 49% (217) of the gap, sand, and lob wedges used were Vokey Design, compared to 64 (14%) for the nearest competitor.
The champion also led a 1-2-3 finish for Vokey wedge players, with a total of nine Vokeys among them:
Vokey wedges have been part of the winning setup in 20 of the last 25 PGA TOUR events.
Justin Rose, playing his Pro V1x+ prototype golf ball, finished T2 at 7 under par, his best major result in six years. Since switching to a Titleist golf ball in 2021, Rose has experienced significant success, including a win at the 2023 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am with the Pro V1 Left Dot.
This season, he switched to the higher-spinning Pro V1x+ prototype, first used at the Masters, where he finished T6 at Valhalla before his T2 finish at Troon. Rose hit 50 greens in regulation (69%, T2) and gained over seven shots on the field with his approach play (+7.186, 4th).
Titleist Brand Ambassadors Billy Horschel and the 2013 U.S. Open champion finished T2, both using Pro V1x golf balls and 13 Titleist clubs, including the new GT3 Drivers, a blend of T100 and 620 MB irons, a T200 2-iron, and new Vokey Design SM10 wedges.
Horschel closed with three consecutive birdies, securing his best major championship result. Both players moved into new GT3 9.0 models since their launch at the Memorial Tournament. Horschel remarked on the solid feel of the new driver, noting improved ball dispersion and consistent spin rates. The 2013 U.S. Open champion switched to the GT3 at the Scottish Open, previously playing a TSR3 driver since the 2024 Masters.
The 2013 U.S. Open champion earned his best major finish in six years at Troon, closing with a 15-foot birdie putt using his new Scotty Cameron Phantom 5 tour prototype putter. He gained four strokes (+4.001) with his putting (11th) for the week.
The Phantom 5 was added to his bag during the Travelers Championship, where he first used it in Round 3. His next start with the putter was at Final Qualifying for the 152nd Open, where he posted 8-under over 36 holes to earn a spot at Troon.
The low amateur at the 152nd Open Championship played a Pro V1 Golf Ball, finishing T43 and earning the silver medal. All four amateurs who made the cut played Titleist balls, with three also using Titleist drivers and Vokey wedges.
