Stuburt is a British sporting brand with a history stretching back to 1860. From handcrafted footwear made in Manchester to Major-winning golf shoes and modern performance clothing, Stuburt has spent more than 160 years combining practical design with British sporting heritage.
Today, the Stuburt golf collection includes golf clothing, waterproofs, winter golf boots, footwear and accessories. The brand continues to develop products for golfers who want dependable performance, comfortable construction and distinctive styling without an unnecessary premium.
Stuburt traces its origins to Stubbs and Burt, two British shoemakers who began handcrafting footwear in Manchester in 1860.
The original workshop was built around traditional footwear-making skills and a commitment to producing durable, carefully constructed shoes. This emphasis on craftsmanship established the foundations of the Stuburt brand and would later support its expansion into specialist sporting footwear.
During the early twentieth century, Stuburt moved beyond everyday footwear and began producing products for a variety of British sports.
By 1928, the company's footwear-making experience was being applied to activities including yachting, rowing and ice skating. Each new sporting application required Stuburt to adapt its construction and develop footwear suited to different conditions and movements.
During the 1960s, Stuburt became part of Britain's specialist sporting-footwear industry, producing boots for players and teams during one of the country's most celebrated sporting periods.
The decade culminated in England's 1966 World Cup victory at Wembley. Stuburt's association with football and specialist sporting boots helped strengthen the technical expertise that would later be transferred to golf footwear.
Stuburt began focusing its footwear experience on golf during the 1980s. The development of the Stuburt Pro Am golf shoe marked an important stage in the company's transition into a dedicated golf brand.
Relationships with leading professional golfers helped Stuburt refine its products for the specific demands of the game. Golf footwear needed to provide grip, stability and weather protection while remaining comfortable enough to walk an entire course.
Stuburt achieved one of its greatest sporting milestones at Pebble Beach in 2010, when Graeme McDowell won the US Open wearing handmade Stuburt DCC golf shoes.
McDowell completed a dramatic one-stroke victory to become the first European golfer to win the US Open since Tony Jacklin in 1970. His achievement delivered the first Major championship victory in Stuburt's history.
Stuburt followed its US Open success with another Major victory in 2011. Darren Clarke won The Open Championship at Royal St George's wearing Stuburt golf shoes.
Clarke secured the Claret Jug by three shots, giving Stuburt back-to-back Major championship victories in consecutive seasons and reinforcing the brand's reputation for performance golf footwear.
In 2024, Stuburt became the first apparel company to form a partnership with multiple LIV Golf teams. The original partnerships included Fireballs GC, Torque GC and Stinger GC.
The Torque GC and Stinger GC arrangements covered the 2024 and 2025 seasons and have since ended. Stuburt currently remains the official on-course apparel partner of Fireballs GC, captained by Major champion Sergio Garcia.
Stuburt introduced a refreshed worldwide brand identity designed to present its long-standing British heritage to a global golf audience.
The modern Stuburt collection retains the practical philosophy that has shaped the company since its earliest days. Products are designed for golfers who need clothing and footwear that can cope with real playing conditions while delivering comfort, movement and contemporary styling.
The Stuburt golf clothing collection includes performance polo shirts, golf mid-layers, padded jackets, gilets, trousers and winter accessories.
These garments are designed to support movement throughout the swing while providing the comfort required for walking and playing. Modern colour combinations and understated branding allow Stuburt clothing to be worn both on and away from the course.
Stuburt waterproof golf clothing is designed for golfers who continue playing through rain, wind and unpredictable British weather.
The range includes full-sleeve and short-sleeve waterproof golf jackets alongside waterproof trousers. Selected garments feature technical waterproof ratings, breathable fabrics, taped seams and four-way stretch for protection without unnecessary restriction.
Footwear remains central to the Stuburt story. The brand's current golf footwear collection draws upon more than 160 years of shoemaking and sporting experience.
Stuburt waterproof golf boots provide additional coverage and support for winter conditions. Features such as waterproof membranes, cushioned midsoles and spiked rubber outsoles help golfers remain comfortable and stable on wet, muddy and uneven ground.
Stuburt also offers practical golf accessories designed for changing weather conditions. The collection includes golf caps, bobble hats, rain gloves, winter mitts, belts and umbrellas.
These accessories allow golfers to create a coordinated Stuburt outfit while adding useful warmth, weather protection and convenience to their equipment.
