The Mizuno ST-X 220 fairway wood has been created to offer golfers increased launch and slight draw bias.
Using Mizuno’s X-Axis design allows for an internal weight to be inserted deep inside the head of the driver to encourage a high draw bias flight. With this deep internal weighting this fairway wood is suitable for golfers who play with moderate swing speeds who need elevated launch to reach their desired distance and landing angles.
The face used on the ST-X 220 Fairway wood uses a new high strength SAT2041 beta titanium face that has been designed to vary in thickness across the entire face. This beta titanium is an alloy, combining Titanium, Vanadium, Aluminum and Sn, that has been designed to offer both incredible flexibility and strength that is 17% stronger than the material used in the Mizuno ST180 and ST190 drivers.
In the sole Mizuno engineers have used Wave Technology for additional ball speed. This added ball speed is made possible thanks to the series of ridges that are used in the button of the head to allow for the lower section of the face to flex more on shots that strike lower on the face meaning high speeds can still be generated. Being able to generate high ball speeds, even on lower face shots, is excellent for strikes directly from the turf.
Mizuno uses their Harmonic Impact Research to identify and isolate vibration patterns that are created when striking a golf ball. These patterns create the sort of sound that many elite players associate with a preferred ‘solid’ feel.
High Draw Flight Bias
Mizuno’s X-Axis design – with deep internal weighting, encourages a high draw biased flight.
Fully Titanium 3 Wood For Driver Type Ball Speeds
SAT2041 Beta Ti with multi thickness CORTECH face shared with Mizuno’s drivers. Combined with a Ti811 body, it achieves the most stable, highest ever ball speeds from a Mizuno fairway wood.
Maraging Steel Face 5 and 7 Wood
Significantly more compact (than the 3 wood), for use from the fairways, construction reverts to a high ball speed Maraging MAS1C steel face.
Engineered For ‘Solid’ Feel
Mizuno's Harmonic Impact Research identifies, and isolates vibration patterns that elite players associate with a preferred 'solid' feel. Knowledge of exact, preferred vibrations allows Mizuno to build sound into the design.
OPTIMIZED WAVE SOLE
Fairway specific design helps create higher ball speeds from low on the face – suited to strikes directly from the turf.
